In The Mediterranean is a new online lifestyle and travel platform that promotes the appealing aspects of Mediterranean life through storytelling and a community of local guest writers.

In The Meds founder Iv said bringing a local's perspective into the story has helped to give the story more body and make places more appealing. She said after years of mass tourism promotion and a complete stop because of the coronavirus pandemic, travelers and explorers want something new and authentic. Moreover she mentions that the guest writers enjoy collaborating with each other. They get to react to each other, give each other tips and increase the value and readability of their story. 

“The Mediterranean is full of cultural differences and elements that connect each country. Bringing these together and zeroing in on them allows readers to pick and choose which area of the Mediterranean they would like to see themselves,” Iv said. 

Readers can use the platform as an exploratory tool for scrolling, but locals, guest writers and the online Instagram community are encouraged to contribute their own tips and tricks when they would like. They can promote recipes, restaurants, culture, local brands, etc. They use city guides, travel editorials and storytelling to inform the readers about Mediterranean history. 

Readers can use these tips to find local recommendations and enjoy the same adventure when visiting the region.

In The Med currently covers Italy, Spain, Greece, Croatia, France and Slovenia, with plans to promote many south of the Mediterranean Sea countries, such as Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia, by year's end. The platform is setting up an online shop to support local Mediterranean artists and sustainable brands.
