Arab League To Assist Somalia In Drought Crisis


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 26 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit expressed the League's readiness to support Somalia in confronting the drought and food security crises that struck the country.
Abul-Gheit stressed, during his meeting with Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohmoud, the importance of offering aid to Somalia at all levels, especially in the education and health fields, the Arab League added in a statement today.
Somalia will coordinate with the Arab nations, United Nations and other international organizations to encounter the drought crisis, and to assist the country in overcoming the other challenges it is currently facing, it added.
Aboul Gheit is keen in knowing the Somalian President's vision of the latest developments in the interior affairs of his country towards forming a new government as soon as possible in order to boost the security and stability in the country, it added.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi assured yesterday in a joint press conference with his Somalian counterpart his country's support to efforts of spreading security and peace in Somalia, to overcome the current challenges and achieve the aspirations of the Somalia people. (end)
