China fiercely opposes Pelosi's travel to Taiwan

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, a spokeswoman for China's State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office expressed strong objection to US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's planned travel to China's Taiwan territory.

"We resolutely oppose any official exchange between the United States and Taiwan," said Zhu Fenglian, the spokeswoman, adding that certain members of the United States Congress' recent inflammatory words and actions are nothing more than attempts to disrupt China's reunification process.

Zhu asked relevant members of the United States Congress to recognize the extreme sensitivity of the Taiwan issue, stop from provocations, and refrain from lending any assistance to separatist groups supporting "Taiwan independence."
