Doha: Televisión Española (TVE), the leading Spanish public service broadcaster, has committed to Premier Padelagreeing a major deal to showcase padel's leading tour in Spain non-exclusively for the 2022 season.

TVE will begin its Premier Padel coverage with July's Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major taking place at the iconic Stade Roland-Garros. The tournament gets underway on July 11, concluding on the 17. The deal also includes rights to the inaugural P1 event, the Madrid Premier Padel P1 taking place at the WiZink Center from August 1-6.

TVE will broadcast all 'Majors' and 'P1' events from the 2022 Premier Padelcalendar, with select matches to be broadcast on the network's linear channelTeledeporte and in RTVE Play, the broadcaster's digital platform. Coverage will continue to be transmitted for free on You Tube in Spain. The overall exposure and audiences that Premier Padel will achieve in Spain thanks to the deal with TVE will be unparalleled.

This news further highlights the growing global popularity of the sport since the launch of Premier Padel, the official global padel tour – governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and backed by the Professional Padel Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).

May's Italy Premier Padel Major had the most extensive reach of any event in padel's history after the tournament was broadcast in 167 territories globally, surpassing the 156 regions that showed the inaugural event, the Ooredoo Qatar Major 2022 in March, further highlighting the fact that Premier Padel once again is proving popular with the world's leading media outlets.

Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation said:“We are delighted to bring Televisión Española to the Premier Padelfamily for the 2022 season. TVE has a reach and exposure in the country like no other broadcaster, which means millions of fans will have the opportunity to be inspired by our players and enjoy our tournaments, all starting with the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major from the iconic Stade Roland-Garros from July 11. The International Padel Federation is constantly looking at ways to bring bigger and broader audiences to padel all around the world, and this deal with TVE in Spain is testament to that.”

Premier Padel will host at least ten (10) new tournaments in 2022 – including four category one“Major” events.

The first major – the Ooredoo Qatar Major 2022 – took place in Doha in March, with the Italy Premier Padel Major concluding in historic Foro Italico in May.

The other category one tournaments are the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major at Stade Roland-Garros taking place from 11th July to 17th July, and the Mexico Premier Padel Major at the Club Sonoma en Monterrey, México from November 28 to December 4.

The Madrid Premier Padel P1 taking place from August 1-6 will be the inaugural category two tournament, followed very quickly by the Argentina Premier Padel P1 which takes place from August 8-14.
