Yamen Parties Commit To Consolidate Truce Ahead Of Eid Al-Adha


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, July 6 (KUNA) -- UN special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg stated Wednesday that Yemeni parties agreed on commitment to consolidating the truce on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha.
The parties agreed on the current truce to halt all of continued offensive ground, aerial, and maritime military operations, inside and outside Yemen, and freezing current military positions on the ground, the envoy's office said in a statement.
Furthermore, they agreed to work in the military coordination committee and the joint coordination room towards further strengthening their efforts to build trust and contribute to a more conducive environment for dialogue, as well as improving the situation for Yemeni civilians.
The parties also agreed to moderate rhetoric in public statements and media and show care for the safety, wellbeing and protection of civilians as well as critical infrastructure that supports their lives, it added.
Hans also stated that mutual efforts were continued in order to maintain safety for civilians, expressing his pleasure that all parties agreed on the current commitment in view of the upcoming Eid celebrations. (end)
