The teams had won the first place in the Schools Robot Championship held in May with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
Administrative and Financial Director of the Qatar Scientific Club and head of the Qatari delegation, Fatima al-Mohannadi, said the participating robot knights of the Qatar delegation exhibited high technical expertise and efficiency.
She congratulated the teams for their achievements, stressing the results are a result of the co-operation between the Qatari Scientific Club, the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
She expressed her appreciation to the Seashore Group, as well as The Social & Sport Contribution Fund for sponsoring the Schools Robot Championship, where the winning teams qualified to participate in the Arab championship. She added that the initiative represents a social responsibility to support the youth sector, which contributes to developing youth capabilities
Qatar Representative in the Arab Robotics Association, Mariam al-Awadhi, praised the teams for their excellent performance. Despite intense competition, the Qatar Science Club teams were able to dominate, she pointed out.
There is a clear improvement in the performance curve of Qatari teams participating in the robotics tournaments in terms of performance, professionalism and results which is primarily due to the interest of the concerned authorities in these types of competition, she said. She lauded the Qatar Scientific Club, which is the approved authority in Qatar to organise local competitions and nominate teams for the Arab Robot Championship.
The Arab Open Robotics Championship is considered the toughest tournament held in the Arab world in the field of robotics since 2008. Student teams from the 6 years age group right up to university stage can participate. It is a forum for distinguished minds from the finest youth of the Arab world.
The tournament is supervised by the Arab Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Association.
The tournament aims to achieve a set of goals, including developing the skills of participants in engineering sciences, electronics, programming and artificial intelligence, developing the spirit of creativity in the field of robotics, and highlighting the energies and capabilities of those interested in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics through the challenges of the participating teams.
