(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, July 5 (KUNA) -- Algeria's President Abdelmadjid Tebboune brought together Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the head of Palestinian movement Hamas's politburo Ismail Haniyeh at historic talks on Tuesday after years of dissociation.
Both attended a meeting organised by the president at the capital, Algiers, in the presence of representatives of the Palestinian Authority and the movement, according to a presidency statement.
The two Palestinian officials were invited to the North African country to attend Independence Day celebrations, having witnessed a military parade earlier this morning. (end)
