Somalia, Turkey cooperate to discover Mogadishu's hydrocarbon potential


(MENAFN) Somali Leader Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stated that Somalia and Turkey are considering cooperation chances to work together to explore Mogadishu's hydrocarbon prospect.

In an exclusive meeting with Anadolu Agency throughout his two-day trip to Turkey on the request of Turkish Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mohamud expressed his ideas on Turkey’s support for Mogadishu's battle over terrorism, the cooperation with Turkey in hydrocarbon resources, and Somalia's plan in the battle against the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.

Talking about the partnership among Somalia and Türkiye to explore hydrocarbon resources in Somalia, Mohamud stated that "Türkiye is a very advanced country in terms of technology, know-how, and technical expertise. We trust the Turkish government; we trust Turkish companies as a partner."

Somali Leader also mentioned that "There are certain processes and discussions going on about how we can work together on this hydrocarbon issue between the governments of Somalia and Türkiye."

Adding "So, we started already discussing the government-to-government partnership in hydrocarbon. We are at the initial stage but we are working together."
