Canada: China blocks representatives from Canadian tycoon trial

(MENAFN) Chinese experts rejected to permit Canadian representatives to join the trial of a Chinese-born Canadian tycoon who left Hong Kong in 2017, in accord with Canada’s administration.

Xiao Jianhua was last seen at a Hong Kong hotel in January 5 years ago and is believed to have been taken to the mainland by Chinese experts. The administration has never confirmed if he was arrested or what charges he could tackle.

The Canadian administration stated earlier Xiao was because of stand trial Monday but did not give any sign if a trial happened or where. It gave no information of potential charges.

“Canada made several requests to attend the trial proceedings. Our attendance was denied by Chinese authorities,” a Canadian administration stated.
