Cash-strapped Lebanon looks for Arab aid

(MENAFN) Lebanese Premier-elect Najib Mikati has urged on Arab nations to supply aid to his cash-strapped nation amid a deep financial catastrophe.

Speaking following a dinner for Arab foreign ministers in the capital Beirut, Mikati stated that Lebanon is dedicated to stay away from any Arab conflicts.

He urged on stating that “the Arab countries, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations in particular, to support Lebanon in this critical juncture.”

Mikati repeated Lebanon's commitment to implementing all United Nations Security Council and Arab League resolutions “in a way that consolidates the policy of disassociation from any Arab disputes.”

Beirut is holding a conference of the Arab foreign ministers on Saturday to talk about the agenda of the future Arab summit in Algeria in November.

Since late 2019, Lebanon has been dealing with a massive financial catastrophe, such as a massive currency reduction in addition to fuel and medical deficits.
