Türkiye won’t go to conflict with Greece, Erdogan says

(MENAFN) Türkiye will not go to conflict with Greece, as claimed by the nation's leader on Friday.

Türkiye "doesn't intend to wage war against Greece. However, Greece does not keep its promises. They made 147 air violations. If we are neighbors, if we are friends, why are you violating our airspace 147 times?" Recep Tayyip Erdogan said to media in Istanbul after Friday prayers.
He added: "If those violations of our airspace continue, then we will continue to do what is incumbent upon us."

In June, Erdogan condemned Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his remarks on Türkiye in an official visit to the US, stating that the Greek prime minister is no longer fit to handle.

Türkiye in latest months has also increased condemnation of Greece stationing forces on islands in the eastern Aegean, close to the Turkish coast and in many cases visible from coast.
