Police states numerous people wounded after gunfire at mall in Denmark's Copenhagen


(MENAFN) Police stated that numerous people were murdered and injured in a gunfire at a shopping mall in the Danish capital of Copenhagen on Sunday.

Police stated that they first received stories on the shooting at the Fields shopping center, one of the biggest malls in Scandinavia, at 5:37 PM regional time (1537GMT). They were quick to reached the location and detained a 22-year-old male suspect.

In a news meeting, police head Soren Thomassen stated that the option of terrorism could not be ruled out at this stage.

He did not deliver additional information on the amount of victims or the suspect.

The police stated that they have a "massive" attendance at the mall and have appealed to the public to send in photos and videos from the incident.

Previously, Copenhagen mayor Sophie Andersen published on Twitter that officers are uncertain of the amount of wounded, but the event is "very serious."
