(MENAFN) The huge increase in tourist arrivals to Qatar in May was considerably boosted by travelers from the GCC and Arab nations.
According to the Planning and Statistics Authority's most recent figures, the nation has drawn tourists from all over the globe, with visitors from GCC nations accounting for 54percent of all arrivals (PSA).
According to the data, 166,090 visitors visited in May this year as opposed to just 17,140 in the same month the prior year, representing an increase of 869 percent year over year and 69.7 percent on a monthly basis.
The number of visitors from the GCC soared by 1,213.8 percent to 90,309 in May 2022 from 6,874 in the same month in the prior year as well as there were 30,258 visitors from the GCC in April 2022.
9,802 tourists from this area arrived in Qatar in May 2022 compared to 747 in May 2021, a surge of 1,212.2 percent year over year and 10 percent monthly. Travelers from other Arab nations made up 6 percent of all visitor arrivals.
