As Jan. 6 probes heat up, Trump presses for announcement in early 2024

(MENAFN) According to a source, former US President Donald Trump has escalated his attempts to confirm an unusually early campaign for the White House in order to counter the ruinous impact of discoveries revealed by the Jan. 6 investigative panel probing him.

Republicans close to Trump said Friday that a formal launch of his presidential run would increase his prospects of re-election in 2024, as well as reinforce his allegations that the Jan. 6 probes were politically motivated.

As per the report, Trump would begin the contest as the obvious front-runner, with an approval rating of approximately 80%.

Trump's hastened planning in recent weeks coincides with fresh information regarding his indifference to the possibility of violence on Jan. 6 and his failure to intervene to avert the attack on Capitol Hill.

Previously this week, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified at a House Select Committee hearing to investigate the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol that Trump was issued warnings about the possibility of violence, including from armed individuals at the rally, in advance and on the day of the attack.
