22 measures are approved by the UAE to quicken shift to circular economy

(MENAFN) As part of its effort for sustainable economic growth, the United Arab Emirates has passed 22 laws aimed at speeding the nation's transition to a circular economy.

The government stated on Sunday that the four primary industries of manufacturing, food, infrastructure, and transportation is going to be the focus of the United Arab Emirates Circular Economy Council's policy.

Remarked Mariam Al Mheiri, Minister of State for Food Security and Minister of Climate Change and Environment, “our current linear economy consumes valuable materials and resources without being able to benefit from them after use, which represents waste in the modern concept of sustainability.”

It added, “our approach seeks to protect our environment and to ensure the long-term economic and social prosperity of our country.”

The United Arab Emirates has announced initiatives to promote sustainable economic growth and advance its climate change ambitions. The United Arab Emirates has promised to achieve its net-zero carbon goal by 2050.
