Russia cautions of new ‘Iron Curtain’

(MENAFN) A new “Iron Curtain” is being drawn across Europe, by Western powers who want to remove Russia and Belarus over the war in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated the EU ruined ties with Moscow, he said this while holding a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister in Minsk on Tuesday.

Belarusian Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei announced “The Iron Curtain is now being erected by Westerners themselves.” He explained he was referring not just to the severance of political and financial dealings, but to the physical barrier created along the Poland-Belarus frontier.
Makei noted the isolationism was unfair, as Belarus carries on supporting talks with the West and look for diplomatic solutions to issues.

“It is practically already up,” Lavrov decided, saying that Western nations “are only doing it carefully, so as not to pinch anything off, but the process is underway.”

On the words of Lavrov “The summits that took place twice a year, and the meetings of the Russian government and the European Commission, and the common spaces along which the four ‘road maps’ were built, twenty sectoral dialogues, a visa-free dialogue ... All this was brought down overnight,” mentioning the occasions of 2014, after Brussels convicted what it called the Russian “annexation” of Crimea. “Relations have been nonexistent since then.”
