Iran's Foreign Minister: Zionists want to destabilize Syria

(MENAFN) Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, stated on Saturday that Zionists are attempting to destabilize Syria and exacerbate the Syrian people's woes.

Amirabdollahian told reporters upon his arrival in Damascus that the Syrian president's recent visit to Tehran marked a new milestone in the two countries' ties.

In addition to emphasizing the significance of his visit to Syria, the senior Iranian diplomat stated that Iran and Syria are entering a new period of comprehensive cooperation, particularly in numerous economic and commercial spheres.

He emphasized that today is an excellent occasion to address the recent developments in bilateral ties with his Syrian colleague, Faisal Mekdad.

Iran strongly opposes the Zionist regime's attempts and aggression on Syria's territorial integrity, Amirabdollahian said, adding that the Zionists strive to destabilize and exacerbate the problems of Syrians returning to their cities and homes, as well as the sanctions imposed on Syrians and the Resistance.

He stated that the Syrian people, administration, and leadership are fighting hard to maintain their country's territorial integrity.
