'The Russian regime must be isolated from the international community and the economy. The current sanctions are insufficient, we must continue working on a new package of restrictive measures,' Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau said at a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Pekka Haavisto in Helsinki on Friday, Ukrinform reports with reference to TVN24 .
He noted that Poland welcomed Finland's application for NATO membership, noting that its accession to the Alliance would significantly strengthen security and political stability in the Baltic Sea region.
Rau also thanked Finland for its solidarity and support for Ukraine.
In turn, Haavisto said that his country stood in solidarity with Ukraine, which had been attacked by Russia. He informed that Finland has accepted more than 20,000 refugees from Ukraine, his country had also allocated 70 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The foreign minister of Finland noted that the Russian aggression against Ukraine had accelerated the process of his country's integration into NATO.
As reported, in early June, the European Union adopted the sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation and Belarus. Ukraine is already working with the European Union on the seventh package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
At the recent NATO summit in Madrid, Finland and Sweden were officially invited to join the Alliance.
