J&K Reports 83 New Covid-19 Cases, Active Tally Nears 500

Srinagar- The daily Coronavirus cases continue to show a slight increase in Jammu and Kashmir as 83 more people tested positive for virus on Thursday while no fresh fatality was reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

According to officials, the Jammu division registered 59 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus while 24 others were reported from Kashmir Valley, taking the total number of people infected since the onset of pandemic in J&K to 455089.
Giving district wise details, Jammu reported 49 cases, Srinagar 19, Kathua three, two cases each were reported from Samba, Poonch, Udhampur and Baramulla while one case each was reported from Rajouri, Budgam, Kulgam and Kupwara. Among the total cases, 167005 are from Jammu division and 288034 from Kashmir.

There was no death due to the pathogen reported in the last 24 hours, they said. So far 4756 persons have succumbed to the virus—2331 in Jammu and 2425 in Kashmir.

Besides, they said, 37 Covid-19 patients recovered during the last 24 hours—22 from Jammu division and 15 from Kashmir Valley. So far 449840 people have recovered, leaving the active case tally at 493— 353 in Jammu and 140 in Kashmir.
