(MENAFN) The White House is ready to distribute nearly 2 million monkeypox inoculations in the next months, beginning with an initial stage of around 300,000 shots as part of a new national plan against the potentially dangerous virus.
The White House declared the plan on Tuesday, stating that 56,000 inoculation shots would be allocated immediately, then 240,000 extra doses “over the coming weeks.” Another 1.6 million shots will be made available later in 2022.
“The vaccine strategy will help immediately address the spread of the virus by providing vaccines across the country to individuals at high risk,” according to the White House, noting that the first leg of the strategy “aims to rapidly deploy vaccines in the most affected communities and mitigate the spread of the disease.”
