Airbnb announces permanent prohibition on festivities

(MENAFN) After prohibiting parties and related activities globally in August two years ago, Airbnb made the announcement on Tuesday that the prohibition was now in effect for good.

The statement from the global lodging internet marketplace, "The temporary ban has proved effective, and today we are officially codifying the ban as our policy." Moreover, "Disruptive parties and events will continue to be prohibited, including open-invite gatherings. 'Party house' properties will continue to be strictly prohibited as well.”

Since the interim prohibition went into force over two years ago, the United States-based corporation reported a 44 percent decrease in the yearly rate of party reports.

It also mentioned that When many pubs and clubs were shuttered during the coronavirus epidemic or had occupancy restrictions, some people continued their partying in leased residences, including some obtained via Airbnb.

It noted that "this was concerning to us due to both the disruptive nature of unauthorized parties and the risk of such gatherings spreading the virus."
