Qatar, Egypt Vow To Enhance Bilateral Relations, Investments

Cairo: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his brother President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt H E Abdel Fattah El Sisi held yesterday a session of official talks at Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.

At the outset of the session, the Egyptian President welcomed H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation, wishing H H a pleasant stay. His Excellency also expressed his congratulations to H H the Amir on the anniversary of H H the Amir's accession to power, praising the development and civilizational achievements made by the State of Qatar during the reign of H H the Amir in various fields, praying the Almighty Allah to grant His Highness good health and wellness, and the Qatari people further development and prosperity.

The Egyptian President also stressed that His Highness' visit is an important step towards developing bilateral relations in various fields.

H H the Amir thanked the President for the warm reception and hospitality, looking forward to strengthening cooperation relations in a way that achieves common aspirations, serves the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples and develops them to broader horizons on various levels.

They discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop them in various fields, especially in the fields of investment, energy, defence, culture and sports.

H H the Amir and the President discussed a number of current issues on the regional and international arenas, and exchanged views on them, especially the situation in the Middle East.

The session was attended by H H the Amir's Personal Representative H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan H E Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Minister of Finance H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.

On the Egyptian side, the session was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Finance H E Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Planning and Economic Development H E Dr. Hala Elsaid. 

H H the Amir and the Egyptian President held a bilateral meeting, in which they discussed aspects of supporting and developing the strong brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries, and all issues of common concern.

An official reception ceremony was held for H H the Amir upon his arrival at Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.

H H the Amir was received by his brother H E President of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The ceremony began with the playing of the Qatari and Egyptian national anthems, after which H H the Amir reviewed the guard of honour, then His Highness shook hands with their Excellencies members of the Egyptian official delegation and senior officials. The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt shook hands with their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir.

H H the Amir also attended a luncheon banquet hosted by the Egyptian President. The banquet was attended by H H the Amir's Personal Representative H H Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir.

On the Egyptian side,the banquet was attended by a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials.

H H the Amir left yesterday Cairo. H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure at Cairo International Airport by his brother President of the Republic H E Abdel Fattah El Sisi. A number of Their Excellencies senior officials, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Egypt H E Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi and Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Qatar H E Amr El Sherbini were also present.

H H the Amir sent a cable to his brother President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the hospitality and warm welcome that were accorded to His Highness and the accompanying delegation during their visit to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, which provided an opportunity to exchange views on matters and issues of interest to the two countries, in addition to the support and enhancing of the strong brotherly ties between the two brotherly countries for the good and interest of the two peoples, His Highness wished the Egyptian President good health and wellness and the brotherly Egyptian people further progress and prosperity.
