Somali Parliament Gives Confidence To New PM


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, June 25 (KUNA) -- Somalia's Lower House of Parliament on Saturday overwhelmingly gave a vote of confidence to new Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
The Somali National News Agency reported that the new prime minister had the approval of 220 members who attended the session out of the total number of 275 deputies, according to the result announced by Speaker of the House of the People Sheikh Adam Mohammad Nuur.
The new prime minister took the constitutional oath before the members of the council and thanked them for granting him their overwhelming confidence.
Berre made it clear in his speech that his cabinet formation will be of strong competence and will also work with the parliament and other constitutional institutions.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed the new prime minister to his post in the middle of this month. (end)
