Doha: French World No.20 Victor Crouin claimed the biggest title of his career when he defeated Mexican Leonel Cardenas 3:1 (11-5, 9-11, 19-17, 12-10) in the final of the QSF 4 Challenger 30 level event at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, yesterday.
Crouin, the top seed in Doha, had booked his place in the final after India's Ramit Tandon had to retire injured midway through the second game with Crouin 11-4 and 7-4 up in the semi-final which lasted for just 19 minutes.
He had earlier defeated England's Curtis Malik and Egypt's Mazen Gamal en route to semis.
Crouin had earlier won two Challenger 20 level crowns in the 2021-2022 season.
Cardenas, the tournament's No.4 seed, had dropped just a single game ahead of yesterday's final, but The 23-year-old Frenchman was too good for him in the title clash.
Crouin and Cardenas had met five times on PSA Tour, with the Frenchman claiming a 3-2 lead.
Cardenas reached the final after defeating the tournament's surprise package Aly Abou Eleinen in the semis following wins against Czech Republic's Martin Svec and Pakistan's No.7 seed Tayyab Aslam.
