Zelensky At Glastonbury Festival Calls For Pressure On Politicians To Help Ukraine

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on participants in the Glastonbury Festival in the UK to put pressure on politicians to step up assistance to Ukraine in restoring peace.

The head of state said this in his address via video link, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

Zelensky noted that the festival reopened this year after a two-year break. He added that the pandemic had put on hold lives of millions of people around the world, but it had not broken them.

'We, in Ukraine, would also like to live the life as we used to and enjoy freedom and this wonderful summer. But we cannot do that because the most terrible has happened - Russia has stolen our peace. But! We will not let Russia's war break us. And we want to stop the war before it ruins people's lives in other countries of Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America – they are all under threat now. That is why I turn to you for support!' he said.

He stressed that Glastonbury is the greatest concentration of freedom these days, so he asked for this feeling to be shared with everyone whose freedom is under attack. Zelensky asked the festival participants to spread the truth about the Russian war and help Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes because of the war.

'Find our United24 charity platform. And put pressure on all the politicians you know to help restore peace in Ukraine. Time is priceless, and every day is measured in human lives. The more people join us in defending freedom and truth, the sooner Russia's war against Ukraine will end. Prove that freedom always wins!' Zelensky said.

The participants in the festival supported Zelensky's speech with loud applause.

On May 17, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the initiative to establish the national brand United24 to unite the efforts of international partners in support of Ukraine.
