Russia is suspected of launching "economic attack" on EU

(MENAFN) The German government has blamed Russia of carrying out a "attack" on Germany and the EU by limiting gas supply to the continent.

The nation’s Economy Minister Robert Habeck stated on Tuesday, “Reducing gas supply via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline is an attack against us – an economic attack against us.”

Habeck remarked at an industry event that Moscow is attempting to instill anxiety in Europe and that the gas supply situation might lead to a disaster worse than the coronavirus outbreak.

Gazprom, Russia's energy provider, cut natural gas delivery to Germany via the pipeline by 60% last week, claiming a technical fault. Turbines from a pumping station have not been delivered following repairs in Canada, with Ottawa stating that they were unable to do so due to Russian sanctions. According to media sources, Canada is currently looking for methods to ship the critical pieces without breaking the rules.
