Amazon inaugurates autonomous warehouse robot

(MENAFN) Amazon has released its “first fully autonomous mobile robot” on warehouse floors, in line with a statement by the firm at its re: MARS event in Las Vegas.

Titled Proteus, the new bot allegedly uses “advanced safety, perception and navigation technology developed by Amazon” to move smoothly among and around its human colleagues.

Proteus is going to start work lifting and moving GoCarts, the human-driven wheeled cars that move packages through Amazon warehouses. The firm hopes to mechanize the handling of GoCarts, supposedly freeing staffs from the efforts of lifting heavy objects so they can “focus on more rewarding work.”
