A huge fire in Pol-e-Charkhi's industrial park in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, at a longtime printing business called Baheer Group of Companies lasted for almost two days.
The printing Baheer Group of Companies' employees told Khaama Press that the fire broke out in a pile of superfluous papers and have claimed that the fire persisted for over 30 hours.
According to them, the fire set ablaze the pile of sheets around 10 a.m. on Saturday, 18th June and continued till yesterday noon, June 19th.
Baheer Group of Companies is Afghanistan's largest printing and packaging family-owned business, specializing in and providing printing and packaging machinery to the market. The company is also said to be the responsible company for printing the textbooks.
The financial loss as a result of the fire which broke out in the company is not revealed, however, the fire is estimated to have consumed more than half of the company's superfluous papers.
Despite the efforts of firemen from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of State for Disaster Management to extinguish the fire, the fire remained ablaze for about two days.
