UK PM suggests Ukraine join new alliance

(MENAFN) UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has allegedly urged that Ukraine join a new alliance that London is attempting to construct as an alternative framework to the EU.

According to Italy's Corriere della Sera daily, there is a widening gap between Kiev and the EU over the EU's reaction to Russia's military incursion in Ukraine.

The outlet's assessment of Kiev-Brussels relations appears to be influenced by widespread accusations thrown by senior Ukrainian officials at some Eu countries regarding the amount and scope of military aid they are willing to provide to Kiev, as well as the bloc's failure to enforce an embargo on Russian energy imports thus far.

According to those acquainted with the negotiations, London has been aggressively working for over a month to establish a 'European Commonwealth.' According to reports, Johnson has been attempting to form an alternative to the EU that would include the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and maybe Turkey. As per the reports, the new alliance would welcome states who cherish their sovereignty, support economic liberalism, and are prepared to fight the "military threat from Moscow."
