Doha: Responding to a complaint registered by a citizen, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) officials have taken action against an environmental violator who ran over mangrove plants and tampered with the coast in Qatar.
MoECC stated that the patrols of the Land Protection Unit 'immediately worked to detect an environmental violation represented in encroaching on the plant and marine environment in the comfortable area' as a response to a citizen's report.
The Ministry also further shared photos of the incident, including one which shows tire tracks on the mangroves.
It added that legal measures have been taken against the violator and the car used was also seized.
'All legal measures have been taken against him and the culprit's car has been seized and the rest of the procedures are being completed with the security authorities' it stated on Twitter.
The Ministry also expressed its gratitude to the citizen who reported the violation and urged the public to 'continue their good interaction in reporting violations.'
Environmental violations can be reported by calling the unified call center number at 184, which is available around the clock and seven days a week.
