Latest Security Systems On Show As PM Opens 14Th Milipol Qatar

Doha: The 14th edition of Milipol Qatar began yesterday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center with the latest innovations in security, civil defence, defence solutions and equipment, security and communications technology, rescue and law enforcement products, communications software, cybersecurity and others on display. 

Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani inaugurated the three-day event, which will showcase 220 exhibitors from 22 countries and 99 exhibiting local companies. While touring the exhibition, the Prime Minister was briefed on several new security systems, their capabilities and how they can enhance internal security and prevent crimes. 

Milipol Qatar expo, organised every two years with Milipol Paris, is a leading international partnership of exhibitions specialised in providing services, technologies and innovations in the security sector. Seminars will be held on cyber security and the security of significant events in the presence of a group of international experts as Qatar prepares for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Director of the Public Security, H E Maj. Gen. Saad bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director of the Public Security, said Milipol Qatar is one of the most important security exhibitions globally and a real opportunity for stakeholders to discuss security services and modern technology in combating the changing nature of crimes.

“The exhibition is an important platform for national and international companies to meet with decision-makers concerned with maintaining security in various countries,” he added.

H E Maj. Gen. Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, stated that the Milipol Qatar 2022 represents an international platform and a Qatari imprint in the field of security industries and exhibitions in the Middle East and North Africa region.

“Qatar is one of the safest and most secure countries in the world, according to the indicators and standards of the relevant international institutions and the reality that the country is witnessing. The Ministry of the Interior is working following an integrated work system and a strategic vision that sets the highest security and safety standards and applies them with a high level of professionalism,” he added.

Maj. Gen. Eng. Abdul Aziz Al Ansari, Director of the International Cooperation Department and Chairman of the Safety & Security Operations Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (SSOC), stated that this year's Milipol Qatar is the most important edition in terms of participation from diplomatic representation from friendly countries and exhibiting companies.

He added that the growing international participation also reflects the confidence these countries and companies place in Qatar, especially in light of the oncoming of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Exhibitors from Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia, are participating in this year's edition. Around 60% of the exhibitors will be first time participants. Debutants are from Australia, Canada, Cyprus, Croatia, Finland, India, the Netherlands and Slovakia. The exhibition also contains pavilions representing five countries, including France, North America, Germany, Italy, and Austria, participating in the event for the first time and the individual international participation.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Prime Minister hosted a lunch banquet in honour of their Excellencies, heads of delegations participating in Milipol Qatar.
