ADNOC signs deal with bp, Masdar to produce hydrogen hubs


(MENAFN) British energy well-known bp, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Abu Dhabi future energy firm Masdar are going to cooperate to produce clean hydrogen and technology hubs, the firm declared in a combined statement on Tuesday.

In its first deal in the UK, ADNOC is going to obtain a 25 percent share in the design stage of bp’s blue hydrogen scheme, H2Teesside, which is probable to kickstart the UK’s hydrogen economy at scale with the growth of two 500-megawatt hydrogen production units by the end of the decade.

The project is aiming the launch of operations in 5 years of time.

bp’s Chief Executive Bernard Looney was recited as stating in the announcement "By joining forces with ADNOC and Masdar we are reinforcing the world-leading role that Teesside, and the UK more widely, can play in developing new supplies of energy, as well as new skills and supply chains."
