Jammu - Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar said on Monday that a Rs 12,000-crore package had recently been announced for revamping power infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
Gurjar, the Union Minister of State for Power, reached Samba district on a two-day tour as part of the central government's initiative of public outreach in the Union Territory.
He assessed the progress in development works and heard public grievances, an official spokesman said.
'Recently, the central government has sanctioned Rs 12,000 crore -- Rs 6,000 crore each for Kashmir and Jammu divisions -- for improving power infrastructure, ensuring adequate power supply, besides plugging pilferage and reducing aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, the minister said.
Gurjar visited Bagoona village and interacted with public representatives. He also inspected the functioning of a power grid station in Samba, the spokesman said.
He said a firm collaboration between the Centre and the UT government is yielding tangible results on all development fronts.
The minister reiterated the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards transforming the development profile of Jammu and Kashmir through numerous revolutionary initiatives.
