Sheikh Joaan Attends Opening Ceremony Of GCC Games

Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani attended the opening ceremony of third GCC Games Kuwait 2022 on Sunday.
Action at the multi-sporting event, which is being competed among 2000 athletes from six GCC countries, started on Monday, with Sunday's impressive ceremony marking the official opening of the Games. Medals in 17 sports are at stake in the event.
Qatar players got off to flying start in men's tennis event yesterday, at the Sheikh Jaber Al Abdullah International Tennis Complex.
Qatar's Mousa Shannan displayed an impressive performance to beat Bahrain's Youssef Ashraf 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in men's singles Round of 32. Isa Shannan defeated Jaber Abdulaal of the UAE 6-3, 6-0 in straight sets while Mubarak Shannan defeated the UAE's Omar Ahmadi 6-0, 6-1.
In the team event at men's table tennis, Qatar registered back-to-back wins, beating Bahrain and UAE with identical 3-0 score-lines.
