US calls for fast creation of administration in Lebanon

(MENAFN) The United States has urged Lebanese representatives to create an administration which can revive confidence in Lebanon.

The US calls for “the swift formation of a government capable of and committed to undertaking the hard work required to restore the confidence of the Lebanese people and the international community,” according to the US Department of State.

The declaration was following last weekend’s parliamentary polls in the country when Lebanese group Hezbollah and its associates lost majority in the 128-seat government.

Following the elections, no group decided to protect the 64 seats necessary to create an administration.

In accord with the US declaration “As Lebanon looks ahead, we urge those elected and the country’s political leaders to heed the Lebanese people’s call for change and to work seriously, and with urgency, to take the necessary actions to rescue the economy.”
