Lankan PM Appoints Maldives Speaker Nasheed To Coordinate International Relief
Colombo, May 19 (newsin.asia): The Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Thursday held discussions with former the President of the Maldives and the current Speaker of the Maldivian Parliament, Mohammed Nasheed. The Prime Minister's Office said that the former President of the Maldives offered to assist Sri Lanka in securing relief from foreign nations.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe accepted the offer and appointed Nasheed to coordinate the relief efforts.
The Prime Minister also thanked Nasheed for his support for Sri Lanka during the economic crisis.
