Public sector non-essential staff have been told to stay home tomorrow (Friday) in order to save fuel.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe informed Parliament today that steps have been taken to inform non-essential Government workers to stay home tomorrow.
He urged the ordinary public to also avoid unnecessary travel tomorrow (Friday) to save fuel.
Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera told Parliament today that petrol distribution will resume over the next 2 days.
He said that despite several appeals motorists continue to queue up near fuel stations for petrol.
The Minister said the Police had also been requested to advise motorists not to queue up near fuel stations for petrol.
However, he said that long queues were seen even today near fuel stations. (Colombo Gazette)
