US share market opens with decreases amid inflation worries

(MENAFN) US shares were worst at the start of Wednesday as worries around inflation and expanding weigh on markets.

The Dow was decreased 294.4 points, or 0.90 percent, to 32,360 at 9.30 AM EDT (1330GMT). The S&P 500 dropped 49.9 points, or 1.22 percent, to 4,039 points.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 196.5 points, or 1.64 percent, to 11,788.

The yield on 10-year US Treasury notes increased 0.35 percent to 2.980 percent.

The VIX volatility index, identified as the fear index, increased 5.4 percent to 27,51. The dollar index increased 0.15 percent to 103.567.

Precious metals were decreased, with gold dropping to USD1,811 and silver shedding 0.68 percent to USD21.60.

Global oil main Brent crude was exchanging at USD112.63, increasing 0.63 percent, whereas US main West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stood at USD110.56 -- a 0.85 percent gain.
