Foreign Ministers Of The US And Pakistan Discuss Afghanistan In A Meeting

Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, met with his Pakistani counterpart, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in New York.

The two parties emphasized the importance of bilateral collaboration on regional peace, counter-terrorism, Afghanistan's stability, support for Ukraine, and democratic principles, according to a statement released by the State Department on Wednesday, May 18.

The Pakistani foreign minister also tweeted that his meeting with Blinken was constructive, adding that he and Blinken had had in-depth discussions about challenges affecting regional peace and security, particularly Afghanistan.

This is the first official visit of the new Pakistani Foreign Minister to the United States and his meeting with the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken. Earlier, the two officials spoke by telephone about regional developments and Afghanistan.
