Bahrain Retain Top Spot As Day Three Of GCC Games Ends


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 18 (KUNA) -- Bahrain remain in the driver's seat as day three of the ongoing Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) games closed on Wednesday, having bagged 17 golds followed by host-nation Kuwait's 13 in second place.
Qatar trails in third with 10 golds, followed by Saudi Arabia and Oman with seven apiece, while the UAE is bottom of the medal table with three golds, the results of the third day of action showed.
Bahrain had won 38 medals, including 17 golds, 14 silver and 7 bronze, Kuwait has 41 medals, 13 of which are gold and silver, in addition 15 bronze, while the third-placed Qatar has 28 medals, including 10 golds and eight silvers and bronze apiece.
The GCC games, which feature an array of sports including football, handball and basketball, run until May 31. (end)
