(MENAFN) Emirates, the world's biggest long-haul airline, shrank its yearly decrease after a rebound in passenger flights request and robust performance from its freight business.
On Friday, it stated that the airline stated in a report a drop of Dh3.9 billion (USD1.1bn) for the economic year ending March 31, in comparison with a drop of Dh20.3bn (USD5.5bn) in the prior year.
The airline's income increased 91 per cent yearly to Dh59.2bn (USD16.1bn) as it carried 19.6 million passengers, a threefold rise from the prior year.
Chairman and chief executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed stated that “This year, we focused on restoring our operations quickly and safely wherever pandemic-related restrictions eased across our markets.”
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed also stated that “Business recovery picked up pace, particularly in the second half of the year. Robust customer demand drove a huge improvement in our financial performance, compared to our unprecedented losses of last year, and we built up our strong cash balance.”
