(MENAFN) The US stated in an announcement that it is simplifying sanctions forced throughout previous leader Donald Trump's government on travel to Cuba and on the distribution of family payments among the US and the island.
That State Department stated that “The Cuban people are confronting an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and our policy will continue to focus on empowering the Cuban people to help them create a future free from repression and economic suffering.”
The easing of sanctions is going to let for surged visa processing, including at the Havana consulate, but with most visas still took place at the US embassy in Guyana.
The announcement stated that it going to “facilitate educational connections” between the two countries as well as enable professional research including “support for expanded internet access and remittance process companies”.
To increase the flow of payments, the US administration is going to lift the present limit of USD1,000 for each 3 months, a sender, and also allow non-family payments to “support independent Cuban entrepreneurs”.
