The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Masraf Al Rayan Group on Monday signed a co-operation agreement to support Team Qatar athletes. The signing ceremony was attended by HE QOC President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani. QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid al-Buenain inked the agreement on behalf of QOC. Masraf Al Rayan Group Chief Executive Officer Fahad bin Abdulla al-Khalifa signed on behalf of the group.
In this three-year agreement, Masraf Al Rayan will provide necessary financial support to Qatar's top athletes so that they have an ideal sports environment and hold training camps that will get them ready for major international sport events. After the signing ceremony, QOC Secretary-General al-Buenain yesterday thanked the group and appreciated its 'valuable contributions in making the Elite Athletes Program real and achievable.'
“We truly believe in private sector's growing role in sports. We appreciate national companies becoming our key partners who spare no effort to do their social responsibility by helping Qatari athletes realise their dreams coming true. Their support is taking Qatar to greater levels at international arenas,” the QOC secretary-general said.“The QOC will do its best to provide all necessary support that can help the national teams and clubs push the limits and take our nation's sport achievements to a new level of excellence” he added.
Masraf Al Rayan Group Chief Executive Officer, al-Khalifa said yesterday:“It's my great pleasure to see Masraf Al Rayan joining the list of companies that are supporting the Elite Athletes Program in Qatar. Hopefully that this program can help our athletes hit the highest level of success to meet our wise leadership's efforts to develop human element as a key pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He added:“I really appreciate constant efforts of the QOC officials that will help Team Qatar athletes making these achievements possible as well as helping Qatar's name shining on the international stage.”
Elite Athletes Program is an ambitious project that was launched by the QOC to focus on homegrown athletes and their achievements at the Olympics, continental and global sports events.
This programme provides the best sport training environment and helps athletes develop the best of conditioning to compete against the world's best.
