São Paulo – Brazilian authors Veronika Topic Eleutério (pictured above, left) and Wiana Kell (right) will launch children's books in the United Arab Emirates by Sharja 's publishing house Nour Publishing. Both authors live in Dubai and signed a contract with the Emirati brand through a contacty that Eleutério got in a book fair.
The books The Houbara's Nest and Sarah's Dolphin will be launched in the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival, to take place from May 11 to 22, and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, from May 23 to 29.
The book by Eleutério is about a bird in the UAE
This will be the first time the authors are published in Arabic. Kell has two books out in Portuguese, while Eleutério has launched a bilingual edition in English and Brazilian Portuguese. The new books have no Brazilian release date yet.“Our focus is now English and Arabic, but I believe they could get a Brazilian Portuguese edition or maybe even a bilingual edition in Portuguese and English or Arabic,” Kell said.

The other books focus on a Brazilian native animal
The two stories share the focus on endangered animals.“The love children feel for animals inspired me to write the story. I brought the pink dolphin to be the favorite animal of the main character as it is a very special Brazilian creature that is still poorly known overseas,” Kell said about her book.
As for The Houbara's Nest, the story talks about how children find an animal in the Gulf region that is also endangered.“My focus as a children's author is always addressing facts that warn kids about endangered animal and plant species. Cissa is about an endangered Brazilian oak, while houbara is the bird that is the focus of conservation programs here,” Eleutério finished.
