BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. Organization for
Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and Turkmenistan are
actively cooperating in the OSCE project to promote 'green' ports
in the Caspian Sea region in order to make trade from Central Asia
to Europe safer, faster and environmentally friendly, told Trend .
'Green ports are the OSCE's trade project in the region. In this
sense, the OSCE hopes that cooperation will make a significant
contribution to economic growth in Turkmenistan,' the organization
said.
The aim of the project is to facilitate trade flows from Asia to
Europe through the Caspian Sea, making them faster, cheaper and
more sustainable. In addition to Turkmenistan, the OSCE project
covers Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
Through this innovative project the OSCE is making a
contribution to strengthening regional sustainability,
connectivity, security and economic growth across the Caspian Sea
Region.
The regional approach, advocated by the OSCE for this project,
aims at strengthening regional between the main ports of these
three countries. This will be achieved by establishing a digital
platform to reduce trade costs, facilitate information exchange and
increase overall efficiency and security along the Trans-Caspian
International Transport Route.
