Free Bus Service To Take Visitors To Corniche For Eid Festival

Doha: Mowasalat (Karwa) has added 70 buses to its existing fleet to ferry visitors to the venue of Eid Al Fitr Festival at Doha Corniche. The three-day festival will open tomorrow.

“We provided enough number of buses. As many as 70 additional buses have been provided to the existing operations to cover shuttle service routes on B and C ring roads and the Corniche Street,” said Khaled Hassan Kafud, Director of Public Relations and Communication Department at Mowasalat (Karwa). The shuttle bus service is free, Karwa said in a tweet.

Speaking in a Qatar TV programme yesterday, he said that the waiting time at bus stop will be 10 minutes at the maximum.“The company is ready to provide more buses if needed. Bus service will be available from Doha and outer areas. The visitors can use bus, metro-link and metro services to reach the venue.” He said that all buses that carry visitors to the Corniche during Eid Al Fitr will be electric.“The company prepared the action plan to ferry the people from their places to Doha Corniche easily. The buss service will cover all bus stops at B and C ring roads and metro stations. The service will be free of cost,” said Kafud.

Head of the Technical Support Department for Events and Festivals at Qatar Tourism Hamad Al Khawaja said that the Eid Al Fitr Festival will be held from May 3 to 5 at Doha Corniche area.

He said that during the festival, a number of main events and associated activities will he organised.“The event of giant balloon parade will be held daily from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. The visitors will get a chance to take pictures with balloons.” He said that fireworks and music programmes will be also held daily during the festival.

“All events and activities will be free of cost for all visitors. The music programe will begin from 7.30pm to 9pm. The programme will host first day Moahmoud Al Turkey, second day Nasser Al Kubaisi and Al Khor music band. Sultan Al Khalif will perform in the third concert.

To facilitate visitors to reach the venue of the festival during closure of Doha Corniche, First Lieutenant Eng. Khaled Nasser Al Mulla from Corniche Closure Committee said that 37 metro stations will serve the festival and five of them will serve directly such as Souq Waqif, Al Bida, West Bay and DECC.

He said that buses will also serve B and C ring roads covering Freej bin Mahmoud, Najma, Freej Abdul Aziz and other many areas.

Secretary of the Committee for the Execution of the Corniche Closure Plan, Eng. Mohammed Ali Al Marri said that from May 3 to 5, the Doha Corniche will be closed from Sheraton Intersection to Ras Bu Aboud, in addition to Majlis Al Taawun Street and the last part of the roads leading to Corniche Street. He said that closure will be from the morning till night.

“Sign boards will be provided to guide the visitors to reach to the venue of the festival by using alternative roads,” said Al Marri.
