Dhaka : Indian private carrier IndiGo started flight operations on Dhaka-Hydera-bad route from April 18.
The airline's maiden flight with 142 passengers left Hazrat Shah-jalal Interna-tional Airport in the capital at around 4:45 pm, said Md Abdur Rahim, CEO of Renaissance Aviation Services Ltd (General Sales Agent of IndiGo).
Initially, IndiGo is operating two flights a week on Monday and Saturday on Dhaka-Hyderabad route.
Round trip flight on the route costs BDT 26,000 to BDT 30,000.
The airline is operating A321neo with 232 seats, all Economy Class, on the route, added Abdur Rahim.
Currently, IndiGo is also operating two flights a week on Dhaka-Chennai route, three on Dhaka-Delhi and five on Dhaka-Kolkata route.
Connecting Dhaka to 80 Indian destinations
With new direct flights between Dhaka and Hyderabad, IndiGo will be connecting Dhaka to 80 destinations in India and elsewhere in Asia via Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi and Kolkata.
IndiGo will also connect Dhaka to other key international destinations like Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, Singapore, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phuket, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo and Male.
The airline said this in a press release recently.
In the press release, Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, IndiGo, said, 'We are pleased to commence new flights connecting Indian hub of pharmaceuticals and biotechnology to the cultural and economic capital of Bangladesh.'
The budget-carrier, IndiGo, is operating over 1,500 daily flights and connecting 73 domestic destinations and 24 international destinations with its fleet of over 275 aircraft.
Travellers from Dhaka can also use Hyderabad as the hub to connect over 70 cities within India.
