Kuwaiti artist participates in Venice Biennale for the first time


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME, April 25 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti artist Munira Al-Qadeeri participated in the 59th Venice International Art Exhibition, which opened its doors last Saturday, by displaying three colorful sculptural models.
Al-Qadeeri in a statement to KUNA on Monday showed appreciation as the first Kuwaiti artist to display her work at the most important international exhibition of contemporary arts.
She added that her three sculptural models represents the modern history of the Gulf which derives its idea from oil rigs and spending long time in the ocean for searching pearls.
Munira was selected among a group of distinguished artists to allow them implement a unique creative projects that reflect their vision and society.
The Venice Biennale, in its current exhibition, displays 1,433 artworks and pieces by 213 artists from 58 countries, including 180 first participation, and expected to receive about 600,000 visitors until November 27, 2022. (end)
