Hamad Port today received the last batch of 130 electric buses that will be fully operated by Mowasalat (Karwa) as part of public transportation plans for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The Ministry of Transport announced that this batch completes the supply of all 741 units ordered for the upcoming World Cup. The buses will become a permanent legacy of mass transportation for clean energy after the tournament. It added that this step will enhance Qatar's position as a leader in the field of mass transportation of clean energy to be among the first countries in the world to have an integrated electric bus system.

During the current year, the electric bus will be used for Metro Link services, in addition to being used in public transport lanes that are mainly used in the city of Doha, as well as in Lusail and Al Khor. More than 200 technical and administrative employees will operate these buses, along with over 3,000 drivers.
