PM Promised To Promote Kashmiri Handicrafts: KCCI

Srinagar- Two Days after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Kashmir Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) held a Press Conference at the Chamber Office on Friday.

KCCI president Sheikh Ashiq briefed the media about the meeting they had with the Prime Minister.

Ashiq said the KCCI had been persistently pursuing meetings with Union Ministers in the last three years and the meeting with the Prime Minister was postponed because of Covid situation.

The meet, he said, was coordinated by the Wakf Board Chairperson Darakshan Andrabi.

“This wasn't just a meeting, we put forth issues of public interest before the Prime Minister” he said.

“Mr. Modi promised us to promote the Kashmiri Carpet. He acknowledged the Kashmiri carpet as a symbol of Kashmir”.

“He took a picture with the Kashmiri carpet and promised us to promote Kashmiri handicrafts in his personal capacity”. He added.

He said we at KCCI want every business to run and not to close down.

Ashiq said that they put forth the issues of the public and business community before the Prime Minister.

“From Air connectivity to Highways, we talked to the Prime Minister on every issue”

He also said the issue of resumption of the Srinagar-Sharjah flight was also discussed with the Prime Minister.

Apart from other issues we sought soft loans for our young Entrepreneurs, he said.
